As of Fall 2006, the Board of Regents changed the reporting requirements for courses using distance technologies. Therefore the data being collected also changed, in line with the new BOR requirements.

1. Summer 2006 faculty began migrating from WebCT's CE to WebCT's Vista (now owned by the Blackboard company).

2. The term ‘enrollment' here includes duplicate head counts by number of courses each one student takes - it is not the number of unique active users. The # of unique active users is under Headcount

3. Effective beginning Spring 1999 the BOR implemented new CIR guidelines for reporting "distance" courses. The new BOR guidelines specified that a distance course be identified with a "D" section & be defined as "a course using any distance technology for more that 51% of instruction time". For the purpose of this report, we audited previous course records & ammended the data to meet the Spring 1999 BOR standard. For this reason, this report's data may not match previous year-end reports.

4. Data on the % of time courses used WebCT is subjective. The data here is based on the figures provided to the DDEC by the participating faculty members, via the course request form.

5. Both number of courses and enrollment data fluctuate within the Banner system. All DDEC data is pulled from Banner during the last 3 weeks of each term (retention data). Official CIR enrollment reports from the BOR are pulled just a few weeks into each term, on what is known as the CIR Census Date. The variance between the early and late data is as much as 400 students and illustrates the degree to which data in Banner is in flux. The DDEC's data is actually more accurate, since it reflects how many students completed each class and were supported by the DDEC. Both the BOR and the DDEC measure enrollment data and not head count.

8. eCore and WebMBA courses are not included in the stats below, until FY '04 (DDEC staff became involved in eCore support, as home to the UWG eCore Advisor's Office and training of webmba faculty).

9. eCore enrollment and non-duplicated headcount data was retrieved from the eCore Administrative Services Database.

10. As of Spring 2004 courses, the decision to teach a course using distance technologies for more than 95% of instruction time (that means you have maybe only one face-to-face meeting and perhaps a proctored final) will effect the student's fees and residency requirements. The new UWG guidelines specified that A Total Distance Course (those which meet at least 95% through videoconferencing, WebCT, or other technologies, instead of face-to-face) are marked with an N in the Section Code in the bulletin on BanWeb. The course must not have more than one face-to-face meeting, in addition to a final proctored exam if desired. The location need not be the Carrollton Campus. For the purpose of this report, therefore, we changed the colunm fields in Summer 2004 to reflect this change.
