UWG Rises to No. 1 National Ranking in AFCA Poll
The University of West Georgia football team made history on Monday, Oct. 26, as the first Division II team at UWG to gain a No. 1 spot in the American Football Coaches Association poll. The team, under the direction of Head Coach Will Hall, remains one of only five undefeated teams in Division II football.
UWG Wins Highest USG Honor, Institution of the Year for Service Excellence
The University of West Georgia and UWG President Dr. Kyle Marrero were honored by Chancellor Hank Huckaby of the University System of Georgia with the Service Excellence Award as Institution and President of the Year on Wednesday, Oct. 21 during a ceremony at Georgia Perimeter College. The award is the highest honor given at the chancellor’s award ceremony.
Green to Direct the Carrollton/Carroll County Education Collaborative

UWG Athletic Foundation Raises Record-Breaking $2.9 Million
The University of West Georgia Athletic Foundation, Inc. is proud to announce a record breaking $2.9 million for the 2014-15 fiscal year, an increase of 164 percent from least year’s $1.1 million raised. Donors nationwide expressed their generosity through gifts of various sizes. Two legacy gifts of $1 million each were given in addition to fundraising through individual donors, corporate partners, construction projects and naming opportunities contributing nearly $1 million to the grand total.

The University of West Georgia’s College of Education will host esteemed education writer and activist Jonathan Kozol on Wednesday, October 14, as the featured guest speaker for 2015’s annual Dag Folger Critical Topics in Education Speaker Series.
Second Annual Presidential Scholarship Gala Raises Over $75,000
The University of West Georgia held its second annual Presidential Scholarship Gala on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the Campus Center Ballroom. A total of over $75,000 was raised for need-based and gap scholarships for UWG students, an increase of $20,000 from last year’s gala proceeds.
