WolfLife is a comprehensive development program to ensure new employees are provided with the information, tools and resources needed to be successful in their employment at the University of West Georgia.

The New Employee Onboarding program is designed to focus on the Placemaking Strategic Priority by creating an opportunity for new employees to strengthen the sense of belonging and connectedness at UWG. The program will consist of three elements: operational, strategic and social. Upon hire, new employees are assigned an onboarding specialist to connect with each individual to provide a personalized new employee experience.

New employees will engage in a half-day orientation session on their first day of employment. This orientation session will consist of an overview of the organization including the history, administration and operational elements of UWG. In addition, new employees will receive a virtual tour of campus and a presentation highlighting the available employee benefits.

To facilitate a new employee experience beyond the first day, all new employees will be invited to a series of onboarding events throughout the first six (6) months of employment.

These sessions will be offered to new employees every other month during the first six months of employment.

  • Health & Well-being @ UWG – This session will be facilitated by the Wolf Wellness Lab and will focus on creating a culture of health and wellness in the workplace.
  • UWG Leadership Panel – OHR will host and moderate sessions with rotating members from the senior leadership team. These sessions will provide an opportunity for new employees to learn more about the senior leader and how they transitioned into higher education. The senior leader will provide information about their division and the initiatives within their division that furthers the institutional strategic plan.
  • Performance Management – This session will be facilitated by the Office of Human Resources and will provide information as the new employee prepares for their 6-month provisional performance evaluation.
  • Manager/New Employee Check-Ins - In addition to each of these sessions for new employees, managers are expected to participate in two check-ins with their new employee during the provisional period of employment. The first check-in should occur within the first 30 – 60 days and the second check-in should occur within 90 – 120 days.
