The University of West Georgia, based on guidance from the USG now and in the future, plans to open its campus for all employees and students for the Fall 2020 term. The information listed in UWG’s Return to Work Plan describes UWG’s method for bringing everyone back to campus in a safe and responsible manner. University Recreation has specifically outlined a detailed plan for maintaining patrons' safety throughout all facility operations and program offerings on our UREC Summer/Fall 2020 Operations page

The purpose of recreational sports is to promote healthy lifestyles while also providing a structured recreational and competitive environment. Our staff is committed to fostering and developing our three core program pillars, which are play, inclusion and community. Through these pillars, we have designed our program to fit the needs of our UWG community by offering various opportunities for friendly competition while removing barriers that marginalize or limit participation. We strive to offer recreational sports for all to participate. #REC4ALL.

Recreational Sport Offerings - Leagues and Alpha Packs

Competitive Sports offers a variety of league Recreational Sports that run for four weeks and then a week of playoffs, leading up to the championship night. Leagues are offered to provide a structured competitive environment that encourages positive sportsmanship. All participants will be required to take a sports-related quiz prior to participation and maintain a sportsmanship rating of at least 3.0 to be eligible for playoffs.

Don't have time to compete in a full league sport? We offer a variety of one-or-two-day tournaments where participants can register online or just show up on the day of the event.

Rules

Learn about the league sports and the associated rules stemming from the calls to different plays and everything in between that we adhere to for every game. This is a great reference to how all officials are trained and the reasoning for how each sport is operated or called.

Club Sports

The University of West Georgia Club Sports program offers the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of athletic events while gaining friendships and developing valuable leadership skills. Each individual club is student-run and establishes an organizational framework, leadership team and schedule to meet the members' needs and expectations.

Intramural Sports Field 13

A variety of sports like softball, flag football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, etc. all utilize 4.5 acres of fully lit Intramural Sports field 13 located on the northwest corner of campus south of Victory Circle and the football stadium.

Recreational Sports For All

Because we want to offer recreational sporting opportunities for everyone, we have put together the ways we operate in order to remove barriers that marginalize or limit participation and have provided resources of support for these procedures.
