Dr. Stephanie ChalifouxCongratulations to Dr. Stephanie Chalifoux, Assistant Professor of History! Dr. Chalifoux received $9,000 from the University of Alabama as a sub-award from the Mellon Foundation to work with the Invisible Histories Project (IHP).

The IHP documents queer history in the south, and this award will support researching, collecting, and archiving LGBTQ materials within the state of Georgia.

Dr. Olivia Uwamahoro

Congratulations to Dr. Olivia Uwamahoro, Assistant Professor of Counselor Education and College Student Affairs, for her subcontract award from West Virginia University for $288,516!

Dr. Uwamahoro will be partnering with Drs. Margaret Glenn and Elisabeth Simpson at WVU to implement the Innovative Pre Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) training for Vocational Rehabilitation Counselors project, which has received a 5-year grant from the U.S. Rehabilitation Services Administration. The team was awarded a total of $2,170,524.00. The goal of the project is to establish innovative and flexible evidence-based training pathways for knowledge and skill enrichment related to the provision of Pre-ETS for youth with disabilities by vocational rehabilitation counselors. The U.S. RSA is a program component of the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services under the U.S. Department of Education.

Dr. Scott Gordon

Congratulations to Dr. Scott Gordon, PI, Professor of Mathematics, and his co-PI’s: Dr. Anne Gaquere, Professor of Chemistry, Ms. Carrie Carmack, Lecturer of Mathematics, Mr. Kyle Carter, Instructor of Mathematics, Mr. Ricky Johnson, Instructor of Mathematics, Dr. Scott Sykes, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Dr. David Leach, Professor of Mathematics, and Dr. Kwang Shin, Associate Professor of Mathematics!

The team received $11,000 in funds from The University System of Georgia to use for the continuation of pioneering work done under the STEM II and STEM III initiatives, respectively, UWIS and SEEP. Targeted interventions such as Intervention Tutoring in core mathematics courses have shown promising results.
