UWG Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) Program
The University of West Georgia provides a unique opportunity through the Pre-K program to bring together university faculty, university students, and the local community.
The program is for children who are residents of Georgia and are four years of age on or before September 1. The program is regulated under guidelines set by Bright from the Start, a division of the Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. The Pre-K operates on a regular school system calendar for the length of a typical school day. A lottery system is used to form class rosters.
The Pre-K is committed to providing the best possible learning experiences for young children by meeting national standards of quality. The program is accredited by the National Association for the Education for Young Children (NAEYC).
About the 2020-21 School Year
At this time, the UWG Pre-K is planning to open for the 2020-21 school year. A current health and safety protocol for the UWG Pre-K has been developed to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The guidelines in the protocol are consistent with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Bright from the Start. Additional health and safety measures that are recommended by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) were also considered.
