Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)

The UWG Certified Nursing Assistant Program is approved through the Georgia Department of Community Health (GDCH) and meets standards outlined in the "Policies and Procedures for Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP)." The nurse aide course is taught in English ONLY. The course offers training to candidates that desire to become eligible for certification as a certified nurse aide (CNA). The program provides a comprehensive course to train candidates to work in all health care facilities (e.g. nursing homes, hospitals, hospice, home health, etc.) The UWG CNA program is a total of 88 hours consisting of 31 hours classroom instruction, 33 hours lab, and 24 hours of clinical practice in a long-term care facility. Upon completion of the course, students will be certified to register with Credentia CNA365 System to take the State Certification test.

Registration Fee
The 2023 registration fee ($995 UWG Student | $1,065 Non-UWG Student) covers instruction, textbooks, required supplies, clinical supervision, 1 set of scrubs, a stethoscope and a name badge. Students are responsible for the cost of their background check/drug test ($78.50), a Professional Liability Insurance Policy for clinicals ($40), and the State Certification Test Fee effective 4/1/23 will be $130 (Written $35/Skills $95).

When you receive your registration confirmation via email, there should be five (5) attachments containing important information regarding requirements you must meet in order to attend the CNA program. You must open and read all the attachments carefully and take appropriate action to meet those requirements before the first day of class.

Background Check and Drug Test
Students must initiate a background check and drug test before the first day of class through Advantage Students at a cost of approximately $78.50.
TB Test
Students must also bring a copy of the results of a PPD (TB) test to the first day of class. If you have previously taken a TB test, the results must be current within one calendar year of the scheduled clinical dates for this course.
Watch With A Second Hand
Students are required to bring a watch with a second hand to class for use during the course and during the certification test at the end of the course.
