Justin Mayercik is the Senior Administrative Support Specialist for the Music Department at the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, GA. He holds a Bachelor of Music - Elective Studies in Business degree from UWG from where he studied trombone under Dr. M. Scott McBride and Dr. Cale Self. Over the last twenty years Justin has performed in marching bands, wind ensembles, jazz big bands, and many other smaller ensembles. As a performing artist, Justin has played in many different venues around the world, including lead trombone on a Germany/Austria jazz big band tour. Locally, he has performed on stage at large community events such as Little Big Jam and the West Georgia Jazz Festival; and with brass bands and jazz combos around the Carrollton and Atlanta areas. He currently volunteers and performs regularly at St. Julians Episcopal Church in Douglasville and plays with a local trombone choir.
Justin has been an instructor and advocate for music education for years. He has provided instruction to brass sections for local high school bands around the west Atlanta area. During his internship with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Justin focused on expanding the orchestra's outreach to the west Georgia area and has provided educational and musical demonstrations to thousands of student concertgoers. Within his hometown of Douglasville, he has assisted the Douglas County High School band by supporting the marching band and has conducted music masterclasses with the brass students. In his spare time, Justin enjoys landscaping, biking, and gaming.
