Experience Georgia Login

Thanks to the support of MonsterTRAK, we are pleased to offer a free Internship/Cooperative Education Posting Service called Experience Georgia. The consortium is made up of a number of institutions based in and (soon to be) around Georgia which have chosen to collaborate in an effort to afford students a greater array of opportunities and employers a great variety of students. Internship/Co-op positions may be located anywhere in the world and vary with some being paid and others unpaid. Employers may be given access to the Experience Georgia System to maintain their own postings. To have an account established for you, contact the Career Services Office within a participating institution (see below). Institutions are required to generate a minimum number of Internships each year to ensure the viability of the system. Current (2004) participating institutions which met their goals in 2003-04 include:
Agnes Scott University
Georgia State University
Mercer University
Oglethorpe University
Spelman College
University of Georgia
University of West Georgia

Definitions:
Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a program which combines academic study with paid on-the-job experience related to the student’s major or career goal. Two plans are available to provide flexibility for students and employers. The Alternating Plan provides for alternating semesters of full-time work and full-time study. The Parallel Plan provides for part-time work and full-time study on a continuous basis. The long term goal of cooperative education is to further the educational development of students in an extended, structured learning program, and to develop mutually beneficial relationships between students, employers and the university.
An internship is an experience consisting of substantive and supervised work that complements a student's academic program. It is distinguished from other work experiences because it is directly related to a student's program of study and has clearly defined learning objectives. In addition, it provides the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills by applying academic solutions to real life problems. The long-term goal of any internship is to develop mutually beneficial relationships between students, businesses and not-for profit organizations. Many students earn academic credit while interning.
