Career Employment

  • What is Career Employment?
    Career Employment provides full-time, career opportunities for soon-to-be graduates and alumni.
  • What services do you provide?
    Some of the numerous full-time employment services we offer include on-campus recruiting, resume referral, on-line posting with MonsterTRAK, InterviewTRAK, Teacher Interview Day, Job Expo, GeorgiaHire, and much, much more....
  • I want to come on campus to interview. What do I need to do?
    First, please contact our office at (678) 839-6431 to discuss a date for your company to interview. We will need a Reservation Form completed, which can either be faxed or e-mailed to you. Please return an originally signed form via fax to 678-839-6432 along with your job description. Once we receive both the signed Reservation Form and job description, we will advertise for you and have students sign up for your event. Also view our information regarding on-campus recruiting.
  • How do I receive resumes? Please contact Career Services at (678) 839-6431 to discuss your needs.

Co-op

  • How does a student get a Co-op job?
    The Co-op office will work individually with each student in helping him/her to identify major fields of interest, after which resumes are referred to companies that have positions closely aligned with those interests. Employers submit their requirements and job descriptions to the Co-op Office and resumes are sent to individual employers.
  • What types of Co-op programs do you have?
    The Co-op Office offers two types of schedules: alternating and parallel. The alternating schedule has a student working full time every other semester while the parallel schedule allows students to work part-time each semester.
  • Is a student considered a full-time student while at work?
    Yes, students are considered full-time while at work and are registered for Co-op 001 during the work term. The Co-op Office can write letters as necessary to maintain insurance and loan programs.
  • When can a student begin work?
    Students can begin their work cycle anytime after their freshman year as long as they have at least two work terms available prior to graduation.
  • Where do University of West Georgia Co-op students work?
    A majority of student work either in the Atlanta and West Georgia areas. There are no restrictions depending upon job availability and personal choice.
  • What about housing while off-campus at work?
    Students choose to live at home, off-campus, or on-campus while on their work assignments.
  • Can a student develop his or her own Co-op position? Yes, if the work is related to the student's major and the employer is acceptable to the policies of the Co-op office.
  • Are Co-op students paid?
    Yes, all Co-op students are paid.
  • Is a student obligated to work for their Co-op employer after graduation?
    No, Co-op employers may or may not offer permanent employment after graduation.

Please note that our policies indicate that we do not forward resumes to commission-only positions or third party (staffing) agencies.
