This can come in the form of Co-ops, Internships or the Student Research Assistance Program. - Kenneth Shiver, a 1989 graduate of West Georgia, is currently Chief Economist at Southern Company managing a team of 12 professionals in the Costing, Forecasting and Pricing Department.

These programs are crucial in enabling students to gain practical experience in their chosen majors and/or career fields. The Professional Practice Program is housed within the Department of Career Services located in Parker Hall Room 363. To participate in the Professional Practice Program, just follow these simple steps (A Check list is provided):
Next, consider your internship or co-op options. Numerous listings of internship opportunities are publicized regularly through Experience Georgia (contact office for the password). Please be aware the Professional Practice Program (PPP) will assist in making appropriate contacts to identify additional opportunities if necessary.

Be sure to check with Professional Practice to receive your Academic Recognition on your transcript. Some students may also be eligible to earn Academic Credit. For Academic Credit, students must contact their major department chair or advisor.
Although some faculty members have their own format or process for earning Academic Credit, a Career Services provides a Learning Contract template. Richards College of Business internship requirements can be found HERE.
At the end of your internship or co-op, you must complete a Work Report by Reading Day of each work semester. Employers must fill out a Supervisor's Evaluation and submit it by Reading Day as well.
